The third round of the Kia Classic came to an end with a familiar face sitting at the top of the leaderboard. World No. 1 Lydia Ko will sleep on a 54-hole lead for the 10th time in her short career, including two times as an amateur, winning four of those tournaments. She is looking for the 11th win of her short career and her first win in 2016, after three top-10 finishes including two runner-up finishes.
“You don’t get that many opportunities where you’re going into the final round with a few-shot lead,” Ko said after the round. “But I’ll take it. I’d rather be a couple shots ahead than a couple shots behind.”
Chasing Ko is Texas native Brittany Lang (-11) KLPGA member Sung Young Park (-11) and South Korean Jenny Shin (-11). Lang is looking for her second career LPGA win, Shin is looking for her first, as is Park. Just four shots behind is World No. 2 Inbee Park (-10).
