South Korea’s Sei Young Kim only needed one extra hole to defeat Carlota Ciganda and to pick up her second win of the season at the 2016 Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. The 23-year old second-year member shot a final-round 3-under 68 to pick up her fifth LPGA Tour victory, winning her first two titles in playoff fashion in 2015.
The duo finished regulation tied at 17-under par for the week. Kim got into the playoff by bogeying her final hole.
Ciganda and Kim both found the talk grass on their tee shots. Ciganda’s second shot flew over the green, while Kim’s landed three feet from the pin, Ciganda went on to bogey the playoff hole, and Kim birdied.
“Yeah. It was 109 to the pin. It was a lot of release, so I just had 90 meters. I did, it worked,” said Kim.
