Split tees and early tee times at the ShopRite LPGA Classic couldn't slow down Anna Nordqvist from capturing her first win of 2016 and become the first to successfully defend her title in New Jersey.
Nordqvist shot a final round 64 to win at 17-under par for her sixth LPGA victory and held off charging, Haru Nomura, who finished solo second, one shot back of Nordqvist.
"It feels really special because I've been playing pretty good all spring. I just haven't really got any results, and it just really got frustrating there for awhile," explained Nordqvist.
"My caddie just told me to stay patient and so did the rest of my team, because they knew how well I was playing, getting really zero out of it. Sometimes the longer you have to wait and the more patient you have to stay, but the sweeter it feels when it finally pays off."
