Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who has the largest social following in women’s golf, played a practice round on Tuesday at the Dinah Shore course at Mission Hills and appeared loose, joking around with playing partners Tisha Alyn Abrea, Brittany Mai and Savannah Vilaubi.
Spiranac, who has played in two Ladies European Tour events as a professional and has won on the Cactus Tour, will compete in her first LPGA Qualifying Tournament this week.
"I'm excited for Q-School, but also nervous,” said Spiranac. "The process is grueling and there are so many talented players competing for a very small number of spots. Regardless of the outcome, each high pressure experience like this is helping me get one step closer to achieving my goals.”
Spiranac played college golf at San Diego State where she was a two-time All-Mountain West selection.
She has played in seven events on the Cactus Tour and has one win. She ranks 11th on the money list.
"My game is feeling good,” said Spiranac. "I've been working hard and am excited for yet another opportunity to test my skills. The key to moving forward to Stage II for me will be to just stay focused and take it one shot at a time. A few good breaks won't hurt either.”
