Stacy Lewis
After six times finishing runner-up in 2015 and going winless for the first time since 2010, Stacy Lewis will be more than motivated to hoist the winner’s trophy in 2016. Now well adjusted to the new ball she found success with late in 2015 in Canada, where she lost in a playoff to Lydia Ko, the No.3 ranked player in the world will be one to keep an eye on this week. Lewis posted a T-11 in this event last season and finished second in the Bahamas in 2014.
Sei Young Kim
The reigning Rolex Rookie of the Year will be one to watch in 2016. Anytime the Tour tees it up in the tropics, Sei Young Kim is likely to play well. All three of her victories in 2015 came in tropical locations, starting at this week’s event in the Bahamas where she defends her title. Her other wins in 2015 came at the LOTTE Championship in Hawaii and the Blue Bay LPGA in China.
Gerina Piller
U.S. Solheim Cup start Gerina Piller is hunting for her first win on Tour. She’ll look to better her finish in the Bahamas last season where she finished T-2. Piller has new clubs in the bag, having recently signed with PXG, but is quickly adjusting, posting on social media her first hole in one with the new irons. She has a lot of momentum heading into the season, not only helping lift the U.S. Solheim Cup to victory but she also posted two top-4 finishes in her last three starts of 2015, including a share of runner-up at the CME Group Tour Championship.
Inbee Park
World No.2 Inbee Park is the highest ranked player in the field this week. She has made just one start in the Bahamas, finishing T-5 in 2015. Having won five events in 2015, capturing the Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average and achieving the Career Grand Slam, Park will have her work cut out for her in 2016 to try and top last year’s historic season.
Jessica Korda
The 2014 champion of this event, Jessica Korda, went winless until late in 2015 when she captured the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia. She will be one to watch having regained her form and love of the game late in 2015. She finished T-38 in this event last year.
Brooke M. Henderson
With the stability full-time status on the LPGA Tour, Brooke M. Henderson will be able to focus in 2016 on what she does best: play golf. Henderson Monday Qualified for this event last year, resulting in a T-33 finish. With the question mark now gone of where she will play week to week having successfully petitioned the Tour for membership following her victory in Portland, Henderson will be one to watch not only this week but all season long.
Gaby Lopez
Rookie Gaby Lopez makes her first start as a professional on the LPGA Tour this week in the Bahamas. But Lopez is no stranger to playing with the pro’s, having teed it up in nearly 10 events as an amateur, playing alongside mentors Stacy Lewis and Lorena Ochoa. Lopez earned her card at Qualifying School.
Brittany Lincicome
The defending champion of the ANA Inspiration starts her season in a place where she has played well in the past. Brittany Lincicome will have fond memories this week, having finished fourth at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic in 2014. Lincicome tied the knot in the off-season and will make her first start as a newlywed in the Bahamas.
Michelle Wie
Bouncing back after a season of injuries, Michelle Wie is healthy and ready to play in 2016. Although she missed the cut at this event in 2015, she posted a T-13 in 2014 en route to her best season on the LPGA Tour. She’s playing motivated this year, hoping to return to the top 15 in the Rolex Rankings and lock up one of four spots for U.S.A. in the Rio Olympic Games.
Lexi Thompson
Coming off a two-win season in 2015, Lexi Thompson looks to continue that momentum this week in the Bahamas. Thompson finished her year with three top-6 finishes including a victory at the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship. She played well in Paradise in 2015 with a T-7 finish.
