Chella Choi (-7) and Jodi Ewart Shadoff (-7)
2:15 p.m. – 1st Tee
Chella Choi has put herself in contention in a major championship for the second time this season. Playing with renewed confidence with her dad back on the bag, Choi finished fourth at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and is on track for another solid major performance this week at Kingsbarns Golf Links. Her accuracy from tee to green propelled her to the top of the leaderboard this week as she missed only one green and one fairway. On moving day, Choi will play alongside Jodi Ewart Shadoff, both of which start their day at seven-under par and four-strokes back of the lead. Ewart Shadoff is making just her fourth start in this championship where she made the cut for the second time this week. Learning to flight the ball down and control her shots has helped her navigate Kingsbarns, in addition to a growing confidence in her putting.
Ally McDonald (-8) and Lexi Thompson (-9)
2:35 p.m. – 1st Tee
Americans Ally McDonald and Lexi Thompson are grouped together for the third round at Kingsbarns. McDonald is making just her first start in this championship where she has hit every green and missed only one fairway in her first 36-holes. Making the stat even more impressive is the fact that McDonald qualified on Monday for this championship and had limited time to prep. Thompson, on the other hand, is enjoying the benefits of having a former local caddie on her bag in looper Kevin McAlpine, who used to caddie at Kingsbarns. He’s helped the world No. 2 with lines off every tee and into every green, which has proved to be a major advantage for Thompson who has played in the worst of the weather on both Thursday and Friday.
Georgia Hall (-9) and In-Kyung Kim (-11)
2:45 p.m. – 1st Tee
This weekend, the LET’s Georgia Hall looks to build on what has already been an incredible season for the current leader on the Order of Merit and LET Solheim Cup point standings. Hall has seen what its like to compete on the biggest stages in the game as a former member of the Junior Solheim Cup and Curtis Cup, she attended the 2013 matches in Colorado and in two weeks time will be the one competing rather than observing. First, she’ll look to pick up her first win on Tour and first major championship at Kingsbarns where she heads into the weekend two-strokes back of leader In-Kyung Kim. The 36-hole leader jumped into contention with an eagle on Friday and drained another birdie on the inward stretch, during the heaviest of the rain, to extend her lead. The six-time winner on Tour was last in contention at major at the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open where she trailed Inbee Park throughout much of the week and ultimately finished runner-up. She’ll lean on that experience and her 20 years playing the game to try and pick up her third win of the season.
