Brooke Henderson and Shanshan Feng
Thursday - 8:09 a.m. – 1st Tee
Friday – 1:18 p.m. – 10th Tee
Brooke Henderson arrives in Rancho Mirage off the second missed cut of her career since joining the LPGA Tour. She’s making just her second start at the ANA Inspiration where she finished in a share of 10th in 2016. Two months later, Henderson captured her first major victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship – giving her a much different perspective in her return to the desert. She’ll play alongside Shanshan Feng, who is making her eighth appearance at Mission Hills. Twice the Olympic bronze medalist has finished in the top-10. She’s coming off her best finish of 2017 with a T-9 finish last week at the Kia Classic, thanks to a final round seven-under par, 65.
Gerina Piller and Anna Nordqvist
Thursday – 8:18 a.m. – 1st Tee
Friday – 1:18 p.m. – 10th Tee
Gerina Piller posted her career best finish in a major championship at the 2016 ANA Inspiration. That week, she finished in a share of sixth. Piller has yet to break through for a win but continues to come close – she’s posted two top-4 finishes to start 2017, including last week’s Kia Classic. Piller is paired with Anna Nordqvist, who is already a winner this season. Two weeks ago she won the Bank of Hope Founders Cup for her seventh career win. The 2009 KPMG Women’s PGA Champion has four career top-10s at the ANA Inspiration.
So Yeon Ryu and Stacy Lewis
Thursday – 8:27 a.m. – 1st Tee
Friday – 1:27 p.m. – 10th Tee
So Yeon Ryu continues as one of the most consistent players on the LPGA Tour – she hasn’t finished outside the top-7 since October of 2016. Ryu arrives in Rancho Mirage as the new world No. 3 following her runner-up finish at last week’s Kia Classic. Thursday and Friday she is paired with 2011 ANA Inspiration champion Stacy Lewis, who owns four additional top-10s at Mission Hills. Lewis continues to search for her first win since 2014, but has come close in recent weeks with two top-3 finishes to start 2017.
Ha Na Jang and Lexi Thompson
Thursday – 8:36 a.m. – 1st Tee
Friday – 1:36 p.m. – 10th Tee
Ha Na Jang, winner of the 2017 ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, makes just her third career start at the ANA Inspiration. Jang has had a hot start to 2017 with two additional top-5s to start the year. She’ll look to carry that success into Mission Hills where she has failed to crack the top-30 in her first two starts. Jang will play alongside 2014 ANA Inspiration champion Lexi Thompson, who got off to a strong start this season. Thompson nearly won the season opener in the Bahamas where she lost in a playoff to Brittany Lincicome. It was her first of three top-11s to start 2017.
Lucy Li and Michelle Wie
Thursday – 8:45 a.m. – 1st Tee
Friday – 1:45 p.m. – 1st Tee
Lucy Li, winner of this week’s ANA Junior Inspiration, makes her second start in a major championship as a 14-year-old. Li made headlines in 2014 when she qualified at 11-years-old for the U.S. Women’s Open at Pinehurst when Michelle Wie won. The duo will be play together on Thursday and Friday. Wie has competed at Mission Hills since 2003 and racked up five top-10s including a runner-up finish in 2014. Wie has showed signs of returning to form and seemingly injury free to start 2017 with a T-4 showing at the HSBC Women’s Champions and a T-21 finish at last week’s Kia Classic.
