ANN ARBOR, MI – Minjee Lee posted her low round of 2017 to take the outright lead midway through day two of the LPGA Volvik Championship at Travis Pointe Country Club. Friday, the three-time winner on Tour carded a 6-under par, 66 to take the lead at 10-under par, one ahead of Lizette Salas.
Lee was disqualified on Sunday of last week’s Kingsmill Championship after failing to sign her scorecard. It was a mistake she took full responsibility for and described as merely a “brain fart.”
“I mean I don't know how I missed it, but obviously I did and I got DQ’d. But it's okay, I can laugh about it now,” Lee told the media on Thursday. “I played good last week and I know my game's there.”
Lee has three top 5s in 2017. She finished tied for 20th at the LPGA Volvik Championship last season.
First round co-leaders Stacy Lewis and Wei-Ling Hsu remain within striking distance of the lead. Lewis followed her opening round 65 with an Even par, 72 on Friday to sit three-strokes back of Lee. Hsu also posted a second round, 72.
