In its 11th year, Pantene Beautiful Lengths will expand its reach to include multiple donation events, additional partner salons and expanded presence in local schools
ROGERS, Ark. – Pantene Beautiful Lengths, a national hair donation program activated locally as part of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G, will expand this year to include three signature public events throughout the community with a goal of 1,500 donors in 2017. The program encourages individuals to donate eight inches of untreated hair to create free wigs for cancer patients and annually collects enough hair to satisfy demand in Northwest Arkansas. In conjunction with the events, organizers look to engage a record number of partner salons and local schools in an effort to recruit more donors and raise awareness for the cause.
“Pantene Beautiful Lengths continues to be a very important tradition in this community and the demand to attend our signature event during LPGA week in June is outstanding,” explains Mindy Sherwood, Vice President at Procter & Gamble. “With that in mind, instead having only one date to donate, we want to create additional opportunities to donate and build upon existing programs for our loyal supporters. We’re doing this by adding more events, engaging with more local salons and empowering more schools to get involved in the excitement of giving hope through hair.”
Traditionally Pantene Beautiful Lengths has hosted one major giving event during LPGA Week in Northwest Arkansas. The program is expanding this year to include a series of events which will kick off at the Sam’s Club Home Office in Bentonville on May 15 highlighting 100 donors. On June 5, an additional 100 donors will be donating hair at The Record in Downtown Bentonville. The series will conclude on June 22 with 100 donors onsite at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G in a brand new location on the golf course.
"Over the years Pantene Beautiful Lengths has become one of the most impactful and visible things that we do in terms of engaging with the local community during tournament week," said Jay Allen, Tournament Chairman. “We’ve grown the footprint of Pantene Beautiful Lengths to have a year round presence in Northwest Arkansas. In addition to our marquee events, we have a record number of salons and schools engaged in the program in very meaningful ways.”
Pantene Beautiful Lengths engages community partners year round through a local salon outreach program and local school events. The salon program, inclusive of over 50 local salons, allows donors to contribute their untreated hair by visiting a partner salon to make their donation at any time. Additionally, for one week in May, the program hosts a series of private events inside 12 local schools, up from six in 2016.
