DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 30, 2018 – Preparations for the 2018 UL International Crown, a unique team match-play competition that features the best female golfers from the top eight countries across the globe, continue to gather pace with the first phase of tickets on offer being snapped up in record time and an English version of the official tournament website going live this month.
The tournament’s homepage, www.ulcrown2018.com, is now available in both Korean and English and provides golf fans with all the latest news, updated country standings and other information ranging from the competition's format and schedule for the week to winners and statistics from the previous two editions of the UL International Crown.
This year’s edition will be played at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon from Oct. 4-7, marking the first time the event will be held outside the United States, and massive fan support is expected in a country that is extraordinarily passionate about golf. With the Republic of Korea hosting the UL International Crown, the LPGA will stage two events in Korea during the same season for the first time since 2008.
Fan interest is already high. From Feb. 28-April 12, 300 International Pavilion weekly passes were available for purchase at 250,000won ($250) each in an early-bird ticket sale and those tickets were all sold in just 21 days. The next phase of ticket sales will start on May 15 when daily passes for both general and International Pavilion access will be on offer at an early-bird discount, for the practice rounds and each of the four days of competition.
The International Pavilion will be located adjacent to the fairway on the 14th hole of the hosting Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea, providing a relaxing and private area that will feature special food and beverage concessions. This hospitality area will only be accessible with the purchase of an International Pavilion ticket, the highest ticket option available to the general public.
The UL International Crown is a biennial competition which showcases the strength of golf’s truly ‘Global Tour’ and it features 32 of the world’s best players from eight countries determined by the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
The eight countries that qualify for the 2018 UL International Crown will be determined by the combined Rolex Rankings of the top four players from each nation, as of June 4. The final field of 32 players will be determined via the Rolex Rankings as of July 2, the Monday after the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Countries must have a minimum of four ranked players to be eligible.
Additionally, LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame member Se Ri Pak, who inspired generations of players in her native Korea, has been appointed as the Honorary Director for this year’s UL International Crown, adding to the prestige and symbolism of this high-profile event.
