We called on our experts - Amy Rogers, Ron Sirak, Adam Stanley and Bret Lasky - to make their picks for the 14th annual Kingsmill Championship. Because the event has been around for so many years, it's logical to go with players that have won on the River Course in the past. So, Lexi Thompson, Cristie Kerr and Lizette Salas were certainly popular picks.
Jessica Korda was also a common selection because of her surge up the Rolex world rankings at the start of the year. She is now the second highest ranked American behind Lexi.
Minjee Lee was also a smart pick by a few of our experts and she is certainly deserving of the attention. While she doesn't have a win this season, she already has five top 10s in her back pocket.
Probably the biggest sleeper pick was Bret tagging Marina Alex as a player to watch. She's a player that finds her way into contention quite often and is looking for a breakthrough. She posted four under-par rounds in Williamsburg a year ago and finished T23.
Check out our picks below.
Amy Rogers' Picks
Ariya Jutanugarn – The major champion is trending towards her first win of the season with seven top 10s to start the year. Ariya, who goes by the nickname of May, seems to play her best golf during this month of the year. She won at Kingsmill back in 2016 and has two more top 20s in Virginia.
Lexi Thompson – Look for the American to go back-to-back this week in Virginia, where she hasn’t finished outside the top 10 since 2014.
Lizette Salas – The 2014 Kingsmill Champion has been saying all season long that she’s close to winning again. The good vibes of being back at the site of her first victory back in 2014 will lift her to her second career win this week.
Minjee Lee – Lee is due for a win, she’s picked up 16 top 10s since her last victory in 2016. This could be the week for Lee to get over the hurdle as she picked up her first career win on Tour at the Kingsmill Championship in 2015.
Ron Sirak's Picks
Jessica Korda: Looking to be the first repeat winner of the 2018 season. She's playing the most consistent golf of her career this season.
Lexi Thompson: Trying to get her first win of the season at an event she won last year. If she wants to make a run at Rolex No. 1, the time to start is now.
Nelly Korda: She is a win waiting to happen. This could be the week.
Adam Stanley's Picks
Brooke Henderson: After a week of relaxing at home, she’ll be ready to go. Likes the course, hopeful for win number two on the year.
Lexi Thompson: Past champion, ready to get her first win of the season. She’s due.
Cristie Kerr: A popular pick, but with reason. A three-time winner here, Kerr continues to show that age is merely a number as her LPGA career has no signs of slowing down.
Jessica Korda: Well-rested and playing some great golf despite her ongoing recovery from off-season surgery.
Bret Lasky's Picks
Marina Alex: I know it's a bit of a long shot type pick, but she's constantly in contention and played well in Williamsburg last year. She has two top 10s and four top 25s this year. She has 13 career top 10s so it's only a matter a time before her week comes along.
Lizette Salas: She has good memories at Kingsmill. That's enough to believe that she can win again.
Jessica Korda: Look at her scoring average this year - 69.04. When she enters an event, she's a favorite. Of her 24 rounds, 14 have been under-par this year.
