Players to Watch
*All tee times are local
Wei-Ling Hsu, Madelene Sagstrom: 1:20 P.M.
It all starts with the leaders, who both sit at 10 under par and a combined 3 bogeys between the two of them. Both players are looking for their first career victories, with Hsu’s best career finish of 2nd place at the 2018 Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA classic and Sagstrom’s career best of T3 at the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship in 2017. It’s the first time the Swede is playing in the final group of an LPGA event in her career.
Nelly Korda, Haru Nomura: 1:10 P.M.
It’s a good problem to have when you can’t remember how many birdies you had, as Korda had to count up all 8 in her post round interview. The American looks to build off her recent strong play, featuring a win and two other top 3 finishes in her last four events, sitting 3 shots back.
Nomura is no stranger to success at the Grange Golf Club. She closed out her final round with 3 birdies in the final four holes to secure a three-shot victory over Lydia Ko in 2016, going 9 under over the final two rounds.
Hannah Green, Jodi Ewart Shadoff: 1:00 P.M.
Green rounds out the top 5 players in the tournament, with all five from separate countries. Green is the leading Australian in the field, sitting at (-7). Her best career finish was at this event last season, where she ended up in 3rd place. Her best round of the event came on moving day, turning in 6 under par.
Shadoff had a blistering start, sitting at 7 under through 18, then backed the round up with a 1 over effort on day 2. She’s never cracked the top 20 at this event and is searching for her first career win in her 171st start on the LPGA tour. When the tournament was last hosted by The Grange Golf Club in 2016, she turned in her then lowest round of 5 under on moving day.
The Cut
2 over was the cut, giving world number 1 Ariya Jutanugarn her 36th consecutive event where she’s playing on the weekend after her 3 under effort in the second round to move to 1 over.
Near the top of the Rolex Rankings, Lydia Ko (+4) missed the cut after finishing in 2nd place at the Grange Golf Club when it last hosted in 2016. Number 8 in the world Georgia Hall also missed the cut, after finishing T13 last year. Su Oh had a dramatic reversal in her results, going from 2nd place last week to (+14) this week.
