Thidapa Suwannapura became a first-time winner in 2018 on the LPGA Tour, but she isn’t turning heads with her game alone. Suwannapura is one of the best dressed players on the course thanks to the fashion-forward styling of SwingDish.
Earlier this season, Suwannapura fell into her on-course wardrobe partnership after being paired with musicians Toby Keith and Colt Ford during the pro-am at the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions. She’s been cruising the fairways in the latest SwingDish Collection ever since.
During the pro-am, Suwannapura learned that Keith’s wife, Tricia Covel, was the owner of SwingDish, a signature line of women’s golf apparel which launched in 2013. They produced their first Spring/Summer collection in 2016.
Throughout the round, Ford talked about his friendship with Keith and shared how much he liked the clothing that Covel had designed. The conversation couldn’t have happened at a better time for Suwannapura, who was in the market for a new clothing partner.
“After we finished the round, Colt pretty much sealed the deal for Tricia and me and she was like let’s do this, let’s wear SwingDish,” said Suwannapura. “Everything was done within a day.”
Conveniently, the clothes were being sold in the pro-shop at Tranquilo Golf Club, where the group had just completed their round during the LPGA Tour’s season opener. After finalizing the deal with Covel, the two headed into the shop to check out the latest styles and determine her size.
Covel has always loved fashion and developed a late love for the game of golf. She soon realized there was a significant void for fashionable golf apparel for women. With the help of her daughter’s, Krystal and Shelley, she created SwingDish. The idea was to create a golf apparel line that would be highly functional for an individual’s active lifestyle.
“SwingDish is excited to partner with Suwannapura and has partnered with her because she loves our brand,” said Angela Myers, a company representative for SwingDish. “She represents herself with respect and confidence, and we believe she will do the same for SwingDish.”
Suwannapura is already receiving positive feedback from fellow Tour players about her new style.
“It’s more colorful and suits me. They can see me from far away, and I stand out pretty good,” Suwannapura said laughing. “It’s comfortable and wearing it is really light and flexible. It is just a good clothing style.”
