The Country Club of Charleston is home to one of Emma Talley’s crowning amateur achievements, when she took home the U.S. Women's Amateur in 2013.
It’s one of her favorite places to play with plenty of warm memories, as she has spoken fondly of the course and the staff that help make the tournament run.
This week, the 2018 LPGA rookie is playing for more than her second victory at a tournament conducted by the USGA.
Talley was approached last night to wear a blue wristband on her right wrist, with white lettering saying “Team Wolfe” on it.
“Bailey is fighting hard and I just hope this uplifts her spirits and know people are thinking and praying for her,” Talley told LPGA.com.
The wristband is supporting Bailey Wolfe, the wife of one of her coaches from Kentucky, Nathan Wolfe. Wolfe, who was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer about a month and a half ago, is currently fighting off the disease. Talley gladly accepted to support a cause near to her heart.
Wolfe’s diagnosis hits home for Talley, as her mother Jennifer was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2017. While Jennifer was able to successfully beat it back, Bailey’s situation isn’t as certain. The Talley family is doing all they can, putting together a fundraiser to help her with her medical bills.
As Talley sits at (-1) and is set to tee off tomorrow at 12:45, she’s holding on to one mentality to keep her going.
“I’m going to fight like a Wolfe.”
