This week the Australian Government presented two-time winner and major champion Hannah Green with the Women’s Health Outstanding Woman in Sport Award in Sydney, Australia.
Green, a graduate of the Epson Tour in her second full season on the LPGA Tour, broke through with her first win in June at the 2019 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine National. Green added to the win total in August with a come-from-behind victory at the Cambia Portland Classic.
Previous winners of the prestigious Outstanding Woman in Sport Award include Skye Nicolson, who won the gold medal for Australia in women’s boxing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Olympic gold-medalist rower Kim Brennan and mogul skier Britteny Cox, who was the youngest competitor in the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games in 2010 at age 15.
Australian Minister for Youth and Sport, Richard Colbeck, congratulate Green, saying, “Hannah is a true champion, having won the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in spectacular fashion in June this year. Hannah’s win was the first major win by an Australian woman since Karrie Webb at the 2006 Kraft Nabisco Championship and she became only the third Australian woman to win a major. Sports stars like Hannah provide inspiration for all Australians, but particularly young women, to get involved in sport and follow their dreams.”
