At the 2018 Marathon LPGA Classic, Jasmine Suwannapura finally had her career breakthrough moment, winning a playoff over Brittany Lincicome to earn her first LPGA Tour title. It only makes sense that the 28-year-old Thai native has very fond memories of Highland Meadows Golf Club and is thrilled to see faces back outside the ropes after playing on an empty course in 2020.
“I saw a lot of volunteers who keep volunteering for this week come by and say, ‘Hi, Jasmine, how is it going,’” she said. “It's great to see people that you know, you see couple years ago come back and help us this week. Yeah, supporting this week for sure.”
Suwannapura heads to the weekend in 2021 at -7 overall, tied for 10th and five strokes off the lead held by Nasa Hataoka. She ended Friday’s round of 67 with a clutch 20-foot birdie at No. 18, putting a cap on her best round at Highland Meadows since she book-ended her 2018 victory with two rounds of 65.
“My caddie Justin say that, you know, you been making a lot of the long birdie putts, so you going to make this one again. I said, we'll see,” said Suwannapura. “I just rolled that in. It feels great.”
