Dani Holmqvist reintroduced herself to the golf world this weekend by leading the first two rounds of the ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer. She earned the “Move of the Week” as she vaulted up 152 spots from No. 453 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings to No. 301. The Swede struggled on Sunday, carding five bogeys and four birdies to post a final-round, 1-over 72 to finish in a tie for fourth. The T4 is Holmqvist’s career-best finish on the LPGA Tour and is her best result so far this season.
Hyo Joo Kim Continues to Move Up in Rankings
Hyo Joo Kim started the year at No. 9 in the Rolex Rankings and now sits at No. 7 after jumping up a spot following her runner-up finish at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. In addition to her solo second, she has one other top-five finish in seven starts this year, a T3 at the DIO Implant LA Open in March. Kim also moved from No. 22 to No. 9 in the Race to the CME Globe standings with her incredible play in the Garden State.
It’s incredible to think that at the age of 27, Kim has amassed 48 career top 10s, including five wins and made over $7 million in career earnings. She is definitely moving in the right direction, and it’s likely only a matter of time before she captures her sixth career LPGA win.
Yan Liu is Trending
Rookie Yan Liu earned a solo third on Sunday in Galloway, N.J. with a final-round 67. It is the best result of her LPGA Tour career, beating her previous best of T21, which she earned at the Mizuho Americas Open two weeks ago.
Liu has moved up 155 spots in the Rolex Rankings in the last three weeks to No. 186 in the world, the highest she’s been in her career. The Epson Tour graduate is no stranger to the winner’s circle, having recorded victories on the Epson Tour in 2022 at the Four Winds Invitational and on the CLPGA at the 2019 EFG Hong Kong Ladies Open. Liu finished ninth in the Race for the Card to earn LPGA Tour membership for the 2023 season.
Siyun Liu Moves into Mix on Epson Tour
Siyun Liu collected her first Epson Tour win this past weekend at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship in Battle Creek, Michigan, moving from 80th to 14th in the Race for the Card standings. Liu has only played in six Epson Tour events this year, while most in the current Race for the Card top 10 have played in close to ten tournaments thus far. But Liu has played in one LPGA Tour event already this season, Monday qualifying for the LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei where she ultimately finished T9.
