The USGA has announced that former LPGA Tour player Tiffany Joh will serve as a coach for the first U.S. Junior National Team under Coach Chris Zambri. The news was shared last week.
“This opportunity is huge,” said Joh of her new position with the USGA. “I think whether you’re playing or coaching, your ultimate goal is to make some kind of impact on golf and do everything you can to grow the game. On top of that, getting to learn from (Coach) Zambri is such an incredible opportunity for me. I’ve always been a huge fan of him and his coaching, and I’m excited to pick his brain and learn from him.”
Joh retired from professional golf at the conclusion of the 2021 season and has been a coach for the University of Southern California women’s golf team since 2022, a position she will be vacating at the end of the 2024 season to assume her new role with the USGA. During her time as an active LPGA Tour member, Joh recorded six career top-10 finishes and made $1,495,625 in career earnings.
After spending three seasons coaching the game’s rising stars at USC, Joh is looking forward to another opportunity to shape golf’s next generation, something that she’s proven to be quite talented at during her time with the Trojans and something that the U.S. National Team will be striving to accomplish in its first iteration.
“I hope it’s a great impact, and I think it will be,” said Joh. “Just from the conversations I’ve had with Heather Daly Donofrio and Coach Zambri, there’s so much energy and enthusiasm from this crew at the USNDP, and I’m just so excited to get rolling. I think a big part of it is because I’ve been so fortunate to have had so many great mentors and coaches who’ve shaped me as a person. In retrospect, I think my favorite part of playing on Tour was the relationships I built, and I’m so grateful I’m in a role where I can continue to do that.”
