5. What is RAMA?
The Rolex Annika Major Award was established in 2014 to recognize the top performers in the year’s major championships. Named after Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam, she is excited to continue her relationship with not only Rolex but also with the LPGA Tour long after her retirement from the game.
“I’m sure they could have picked other legends or hall of famers but they picked me so I feel very fortunate,” Sorenstam said. “We were talking about what can we do together to help me build the legacy and also to make sure the girls get really motivated and inspired to perform in the majors and acknowledge the best performance in the major championships.”
4. Who Can Win?
The only players eligible to receive the annual Rolex Annika Major Award are champions from the year’s five major championships: ANA Inspiration, KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, U.S. Women’s Open, Ricoh Women’s British Open or Evian Championship.
3. How is a Winner Selected?
Points are awarded during the five major championships and the player with the most points will receive the award.
If there is a tie in total points after the Evian Championship, the final major of the year, a tie break will be determined by the player who has the most second-place major championship finishes. If there is still a tie, then it will be based on the most third-place finishes and so on.
Here are the point allocations:
1st place - 60 pts.
2nd place - 24 pts.
3rd place - 18 pts.
4th place - 14 pts.
5th place - 12 pts.
6th place - 10 pts.
7th place - 8 pts.
8th place - 6 pts.
9th place - 4 pts.
10th place - 2 pts.
2. What are the Current Standings?
ANA Inspiration champion Brittany Lincicome leads the standings with 60 points as the only major winner so far this year. Stacy Lewis ranks second with 24 points and Morgan Pressel is third with 18 points. The winner will be announced at the Evian Championship.
