Marino’s amateur resume includes an outstanding collegiate career at Southern Methodist University. She was named a 1982 and 1983 NCAA All-American and also was a 1982 AIAW All-American. She placed third at the 1982 AIAW Nationals. Her junior career was highlighted by designation as the 1978 American Junior Golf Association Player of the Year. She captured the 1978 Western Junior and was a semi-finalist that same year at the USGA Junior Girls Championship. Named a member of the United States Curtis Cup squad in 1982, Marino also finished as runner-up to Juli Inkster at the 1982 U.S. Amateur.
