The field is set, and teams are finalized for the second playing of the UL International Crown to be held July 19-24 at Merit Club just outside Chicago.
With the conclusion of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, the four highest ranked players from each of the eight qualifying countries make up the respective teams. The eight countries have been seeded No.1 through No.8 and divided into two pools based on the cumulative team score of the four players’ Rolex World Ranking.
Let’s take a look at the No. 8 seed, Team China, which consist of Shanshan Feng, Xi Yu Lin, Jing Yan and Yuting Shi, they will be making their first appearance in the team competition.
Feng said she’s never played in a team competition but is looking forward to the upcoming event. She has three top-10s on the season and sits No. 12 in the rankings and has held the top spot for Team China all season.
Third-year member is currently 71st on the LPGA Money List, Lin has one top-10 on the season and currently sits No. 58 in the rankings.
Playing in just her second season on the LPGA, Yan’s outstanding play, and fifth place finish at the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer moved her up 29 spots in the rankings which helped Team China secure their spot among the top-8.
Team China initially moved into the top-8 in the country standing in mid-March thanks to a win on the CLPGA Tour by Shi, which moved her up 25 spots in the Rolex Rankings and gave China 369 points in the team standings.
