Republic of Korea native Jeongeun Lee5 made the fourth hole-in-one of the 2024 LPGA Tour season on Thursday in the first round of the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro in Los Angeles, Calif.
The 35-year-old aced the par-3 18th hole at Wilshire Country Club from 135 yards with her 9-iron, her second career hole-in-one on the LPGA Tour. Lee5 last made an ace on Tour at the 2021 LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei, holing out on the par-3 8th hole from 181 yards in the final round at Kapolei Golf Course in Oahu, Hawaii.
In honor of Lee5’s hole-in-one, CME Group will donate $20,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as part of their CME Group Cares Challenge – Score 1 for St. Jude. The Challenge is a season-long charitable giving program that turns aces into donations with a minimum guaranteed donation of $500,000 to St. Jude's, which is leading the way in how the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and life-threatening diseases.
Today’s ace raises the 2024 donation total to $80,000, and Lee5 joins People’s Republic of China amateur Yijia Ren, major champion Danielle Kang and University of Southern California alum Jennifer Song as just the fourth player to make an ace in 10 events so far this season on the LPGA Tour.
