Two-time LPGA Tour winner Christina Kim, Grand Rapids native Allison Fouch and RICOH Women's British Open runner-up Katherine Hull headlined a field of 18 LPGA players at the 7th Annual Meijer Charity Classic at the Highlands Golf Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The event raises funds for Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids.
LPGA players toured Gilda's Clubhouse, played in the pro-am and attended a dinner which raised additional funds through a live auction, highlighted by an animated bidding war over a signed copy of Kim's book "Swinging from My Heels." The pro-am team led by local favorite Fouch took home the first-place trophy in the tournament.
Gilda's Club, named for the late Saturday Night Live comedian Gilda Radner, was founded by Radner's cancer therapist Joanna Bull and Gene Wilder. The first clubhouse was opened in New York City in 1995. The Grand Rapids location officially opened its doors in 2001. Gilda's Club is a free cancer and grief support community of adults, children and families.
