Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio About the Hole
The 16th hole at Boca Rio is a double dog-leg par-5. The landing area for tee shots is well framed by a lake on the left and fairway bunkers on the right.
For players successful in finding the fairway, they will then have to navigate the second dog-leg with an approach shot in to a well-protected, slightly elevated green. Bunkers and run-off areas will make hard to hold the green with a fairway wood or long iron.
Gainbridge LPGA at Boca Rio Key Decision
The key decision for players this week relates to the second shot.
A well-positioned drive of 260+yards will leave less than 200 yards in to the green, allowing players to go for the green in two.
However, if a player misses the fairway, adopting a three-shot approach for this par-5 will be the safer strategy, where holding the green will be easier with a wedge in hand.
